Marajo Scrub LS 9843 - an effective active for natural cosmetics

Laboratoires Sérobiologiques, the active ingredients business of Cognis Care Chemicals, has recently launched an exotic cosmetic ingredient that will enable manufacturers to meet increasing consumer demand for natural source products, combining marketing appeal and demonstrated efficacy: Marajo Scrub LS 9843 is an exfoliator based on natural clay and ideal for use in a wide range of cosmetic formulations.

Marajo Scrub is a new micro-exfoliator that gently softens the skin, and restores its balance and radiance. It is made from a pure natural clay from the Amazon region of North Brazil: the Marajo Island, the biggest fluvial island in the world where the Amazon river meets the ocean. Rich in mineral salts, such as iron, aluminum, potassium, calcium, boron, and sulfur, this exotic kaolin source revitalizes and smoothes the skin. The raw material conforms to the Ecocert standard for ecological and organic cosmetics. As such, it fits with the trends towards natural well-being and home spa products, while its exotic origins will also attract consumers' interest. Marajo Scrub is suitable for face and body scrubs, purifying treatments for problem skin, scalp exfoliating treatments for dandruff-prone hair, and bar and liquid soap formulations.

Scientifically proven exfoliating effects

The exfoliating benefits and sensory appeal of Marajo Scrub have been proven in clinical tests. One-time use of a hydrogel containing three percent Marajo Scrub significantly improved the radiance of subjects' skin - this effect was observed in 70 percent of test participants. One hour after application, the skin was silkier, the complexion was less dull and more uniform, and pores had shrunk in size.

Comments Isabelle Benoit, Global Marketing Manager of Laboratories Sérobiologiques: "Marajo Scrub is a further example of how we are helping manufacturers to meet the growing demand for natural-source cosmetic raw materials, allowing Ecocert certification for ecological and organic cosmetics, without sacrificing efficacy. The ingredient, whose exotic geographical origin will doubtlessly appeal to consumers' desire for escape, is environmentally sound, reliable in application, and delivers superior performance."
