Cognis communication wins international awards

Specialty chemicals supplier Cognis has received five Spotlight awards from the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) in recognition of the quality of its internal and corporate communications. These included Gold awards for the company's Pocket Guide and 2008 Feelosophy campaign, which in the judges' opinion perfectly reflected Cognis' positioning as a marketing-driven company with focus on wellness and sustainability. The Cognis 2007 Annual and Sustainability Reports as well as its communications on sustainability were among the Silver award winners.

The Gold award-winning Cognis Pocket Guide particularly impressed the judges, and scored 94 out of a possible 100 points. This handy reference source has become indispensable for employees, providing information about the company's strategic direction, objectives, core competencies and prospects for future success. By explaining in simple terms the principles by which Cognis conducts its business, it helps to increase employees' motivation and loyalty. The LACP judges commented in their assessment: "We found a lot of interesting and useful information within the guide, all proving both a broad and in-depth presentation of Cognis. Excellent job in developing such an effective element for strengthening the core elements of the Cognis brand."

"Feelosophy", a major campaign run by the company's Care Chemicals strategic business unit, also won a Gold award. The campaign was designed to show how the company meets the needs of the wellness market through a holistic approach to product development. It demonstrates how Cognis technologies enhance personal and home care formulations to include the key dimensions of an all-embracing product experience, such as perception, feel, effect and usage.

Continuing a tradition of success

The Cognis Sustainability Report and Annual Report, which are published in German and English and distributed globally, both finished with a Silver award in their respective categories for companies with annual sales of over one billion US dollars. This is the sixth time that the reports have been recognized by the LACP. The two documents help employees and external stakeholders to understand what the green trend is, and how it relates to Cognis' business strategy. As such, they complement the company's communication on its sustainability strategy, which also won a Silver award. Customer interest in sustainable products and solutions is growing all the time, and so these communication tools are essential for the business.
