Cognis Dehydran SE 1: a high-performing, "green" alternative to mineral oil-based defoamers
Defoamer from Cognis (Foamaster, FoamStar and Dehydran) offer excellent efficiency combined with an outstanding long term persistence in a broad variety of industrial applications. The latest innovation Dehydran SE 1 means Cognis is enlarging its portfolio for architectural coatings with an emulsion defoamer which is free of mineral oil and, at the same time, has excellent long term stability. As its performance does not depend on how and at which state it is incorporated, Dehydran SE 1 is universally applicable and covers a wide paint PVC range: from premium flat to eggshell and semi-gloss. It is highly compatible and causes no haze or fogging.
Ecologically and economically sound Dehydran SE 1 allows manufacturers to make use of the trend towards sustainability by enabling them to formulate with a defoamer that matches various environmental requirements: The product is in line with the global trend to eliminate fossil fuel-based solvents from paints and is free of volatile organic compounds according to EU 2004/42 and US-EPA Method 24. It is also best in class with ultra-low contents of semi-volatile organic compounds and is odor-free. These environmental benefits help manufacturers to successfully obtain environmental quality and safety certifications such as the EU Ecolabel, the Blue Angel or the German TÜV seal for their end-products when using Dehydran SE 1.
Paula Gómez Perea, Senior Marketing Manager FP Europe, comments: "Dehydran SE 1 is the latest addition to our range of mineral oil-free defoamers, which offers our customers a unique combination of benefits: Not only does the product provide state-of-the-art performance and is environmentally sound, it also offers more stable pricing compared to mineral oil based products. Petrochemical raw materials are likely to get more expensive in the long run, so it is a very good idea for manufacturers to invest in the benefits of mineral oil-free technology now, while offering consumers the sustainable paints that they demand."
