More ultrasonic power for process technology from BANDELIN

The ultrasonic tube reactor SB 101-2002 with a diameter of 3 inches /DN 80 and nominal output of 2,000 W from BANDELIN can perfectly be used in industrial plants for improving biological and chemical processes, e. g. suspension, emulsification, desagglomeration, degassing and acceleration of reactions.

The power input can be steplessly adjusted either by hand or by remote control. Within this reactor principle the ultrasonic transducers are located on the outside of the high-quality stainless steel (AISI 316 Ti) reactor tube. The flow behaviour is not negatively influenced compared to conventional ultrasonic sonotrode reactors. Throughout this principle the ultrasonic system is extremely resistant against clogging during sonication of high-viscosity or solids-containing media. It has been successfully used with the disintegration of biogas substrate with the aim to increase the gas yield. Other applications include the dispersion of solids in liquids in the pharmaceutical industry, homogenisation of colour pigments in oil when producing paint or degassing of coating solutions.

The entire inner tube wall serves as ultrasound emitting surface and creates a homogeneous ultrasonic field within the sonicated medium. Another advantage, compared to sonotrode reactors, is the very low wear and tear due to the relatively large radiating surface. This results in a maintenance-free operation with a very high lifetime and thus a cost reduction.
