With more than 120 participants from a total of 24 European and non-European countries, the 12th World Pultrusion Conference, that took place in Lisbon from 6 to 7 March, was a great success.

The conference is organised by the European Pultrusion Technology Association (EPTA) and takes place every two years in a different European country that plays a significant role in the pultrusion industry. The EPTA was founded in 1989 and is under the umbrella of the AVK, the German composites association. Pultrusion is an automated, so-called continuous process used in the area of composites/fibre reinforced plastics - especially for manufacturing profiles, which are used in a wide variety of applications.

The participants were able to find out more about the latest developments in the pultrusion industry. A total of over 20 speakers gave presentations over the two days of the conference covering topics such as developments in the European and American markets, innovative raw material solutions and new technologies and applications. Another theme addressed was the use of pultruded solutions in the series production of automobiles.

The next World Pultrusion Conference will take place in 2016, once again during the week before the JEC (which is due to be staged in Paris).
