"Mit großer Erleichterung blickt die europäische Automobilindustrie auf die letzten Monate zurück. Trotz einer Fehlernte bei Flachs im letzten Jahr kam es zu keinen Engpässen bei der Belieferung mit Naturfaser-Verbundwerkstoffen" sagt Dr. Ralph Greiner von der Daimler AG und Vorsitzender des Arbeitskreises Naturfaserverstärkte Kunststoffe der AVK - Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe e.V. Diese Materialien spielen in der Automobil-Industrie eine große Rolle im energiesparenden Leichtbau und werden vor allem in Türinnenverkleidungen, Dämmmaterialien und Kofferraumauskleidungen eingesetzt.

Aufgrund schlechten Wetters war die westeuropäische Flachsernte im vergangenen Jahr um 20% geringer als in den Vorjahren.
