Cylinder pressure processing for marine gas engines

Tübingen, (PresseBox) - Gas engine controls specialist AVAT Automation, based in Tübingen, Germany, has launched a marine version of its proven combustion signal processor for gas engines. AVAT's E²PRECON-M combustion pressure signal processor is classification society approved and designed to acquire real time data for every power stroke from cylinder pressure sensors on spark-ignited or dual-fuel marine gas engines. E²PRECON-M then processes the data into key values which give builders of marine gas engines deep insights into combustion patterns. They can hence assist advanced cylinder pressure-based control - including precise cylinder balancing - monitoring and diagnosis. Values computed by E²PRECON-M comprise indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP), maximum combustion pressure (Pmax), heat release, start of combustion, centre of combustion, duration of combustion, knock intensity and misfiring.
