Atex launches version 10.6 of Atex Web CMS

(PresseBox) (Reading, UK, ) Atex announces the release of its latest Web Content Management platform, version 10.6, based on the industry-leading Polopoly architecture. The Atex 10.6 Web CMS release provides richer integration and federation of content, streamlined project deployment times, and a suite of new plug-in modules that add to the growing collection of add-on components available to Atex and non-Atex Web developers.

"A modern Web CMS has to meet more needs than just bringing content onto the web," says Anders Weijnitz, Atex Vice President of Web CMS Product Management. "In today's complex multimedia workflows, multi-source capabilities are just as important as multi-channel publishing."

One example of this is Atex Content Hub, the new federation engine inside Atex 10.6 Web CMS release, which gives the editor the ability to search for and publish content stored in external repositories. A consistent data model and single API give consistent access to all federated content. Traditional integration support is also strengthened in the 10.6 release through the inclusion of the Apache Camel Enterprise Service Bus as the default integration component.

In addition to Content Hub, Atex 10.6 Web CMS platform completes the move to a Maven-based project platform. A comprehensive software project management tool, Apache Maven - in combination with the Atex plug-ins - provides a streamlined end-to-end project tool that promotes safe component reuse and best practice project configurations.

The Atex 10.6 release also features new and updated plug-ins, including additional Publishing Queues and third-party integration with Brightcove, Cakemail and Shootitlive, a live-coverage photo service.

"Content Hub and the Camel ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) in combination with the new project support, reflects the need that modern media companies have to bring their content online in a consistent and flexible way," says Weijnitz. "The ability to work with a unified content model through a single API is the key to adaptive content, contextual reuse and monetisation in different channels. Multi-source publishing is just as important as multi-channel publishing, and the latest Atex 10.6 Web CMS release takes an important step in this direction."
