Three times high-tech at the Chinaplas
Three Allrounders set the standard in Guangzhou / Focus on high-speed machines and automation
"While last year's Chinaplas looked at the broad range of applications of our machines, the focus for 2009 is on the individual performance of the various series," explains Helmut Heinson, Managing Director Sales at Arburg, describing the strategy for this year's trade fair. "The Allrounders exhibited this year offer our Chinese customers precisely tailored solutions for their specific production requirements."
Allrounder 570 A: Fast, precise, and energy-efficient
At the Chinaplas the electric Alldrive machine series is represented by an Allrounder 570 A with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and a size 800 injection unit. With a high-speed packaging application the exhibit demonstrates the capability of the electric Arburg machines: 24 screw caps are produced in a cycle time of 4.8 seconds.
The main axes of the Allrounder A, with servo-electric drive as standard, enable simultaneous movements and consequently short cycle times. The auxiliary axes can be driven electrically or hydraulically, depending on the customer's requirements.
The high level of efficiency of the servo-electric drives and the toggle-type clamping unit ensure an energy-efficient operating procedure. Accordingly, the Alldrive machines carry the Arburg energy efficiency label e².
High reproducibility and part quality are ensured by the excellent positioning accuracy of the electric movement axes. Thanks to the accuracy of the axis movements, synchronous entry into the mould can be performed quickly and precisely, optimising cycle times.
Automation also available with the Allrounder Golden Edition
Arburg continues to expand its product range on the basis of customer requirements. This also involves combining the successful Allrounder Golden Edition and the servo-electric Multilift V Select robotic system, which covers most of the removal and set-down tasks. The new offer contains not only machine and robotic system, but a complete production unit, including guarding, with electrical connections, conveyor belt and CE certification.
The complete electrical system of the Multilift V Select is centrally integrated directly in the device. Programming and control of the integrated robotic system is performed via the Selogica control system. This is particularly simple thanks to the teach-in function. The various steps are carried out manually and the relevant positions are confirmed via the "Teach" button. All the necessary parameter entries are then automatically checked and performed in the control system. Simultaneously, Selogica 'direct' independently generates the entire robotic sequence and integrates it into the machine cycle.
As with all Arburg products, the customer can be confident that he is buying tried-and-tested, high-quality Arburg technology "made in Germany", so that all the components will be perfectly coordinated. Visitors to Chinaplas will have an opportunity to see the Allrounder 420 C Golden Edition for themselves, allowing them to experience the high performance of the combined units and the ease with which the robotic system can be programmed This machine will be used to produce a technically complex moulded part in the form of a cable bushing with film hinge.
Vertical Allrounder V - flexible due to free-space system
A vertical Allrounder V will represent a third machine series in Guangzhou. Due to their free-space system the hydraulic vertical machines are predestined for the ergonomic encapsulation of inserts. This is shown at the Chinaplas on an Allrounder 375 V with a clamping force of 500 kN and a size 100 injection unit. In each cycle, four cables are manually inserted into the four-cavity mould and are encapsulated with a thermoplastic elastomer. The part weight of the bend protector is 1.2 grams and the cycle time is 35 seconds.
The injection units can be arranged flexibly in the vertical or horizontal position, providing the option of injecting either centrally or into the parting line which in shown at the Chinaplas.
Due to the low table heights, these Allrounders are extremely well suited for the manual insertion and removal of moulded parts. In addition, the fixed lower mould platen means that the inserts cannot become dislodged. The Chinaplas exhibit features a two-station rotary table with light curtain. This not only means that removal and insertion times can be reduced to a minimum, but also that automation is possible.
Our sights are set on the Chinese market
"We are convinced that our range of machines will enable us to meet the wishes and requirements of our Chinese customers. The Chinese market is evolving, so that Arburg is sure that it is well positioned with its high-quality, energy-efficient machines," says Helmut Heinson, summarising the long-term market opportunities. Max Man, manager of the Arburg subsidiary in Shenzhen, backs up this opinion: "Although the Chinese market is currently dominated by simple machines and applications, we see potential for high-performance machines up to and including complex production cells. Our current trade fair programme is intended to clearly reflect these expectations."
ARBURG GmbH + Co KG
Arburg, a German machine construction company, is one of the leading global manufacturers of injection moulding machines for plastics processing with clamping forces between 125 kN and 5,000 kN. Fields of application include the production of plastic parts for motor vehicles, communications and consumer electronics, medical technology, domestic appliances and packaging. The product range is completed by robotic systems, complex projects and other peripherals. Arburg's operations are coordinated by an integrated management system and are DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001 certified. Arburg is represented by its own organisations in 24 countries at 32 locations and by trading partners in more than 50 countries. However, production takes place exclusively in the parent factory in Lossburg (Germany) - with the mark of quality "made by Arburg - made in Germany". From a total of more than 2,000 Arburg employees, around 1,700 work in Germany. Around 330 further employees work at the 23 subsidiaries and representative offices.
