Arburg presents a high-speed, thin-walled application in Dubai / Energy-efficient drive technology and short cycle times

Arburg will exhibit a representative of its high-performance Allrounder Hidrive machine series at the Arabplast in Dubai from 8 to 11 January 2011. On Stand 5D120 in Hall 5, a hybrid, energy-efficient Allrounder 570 H (Hidrive) will demonstrate its performance with a high-speed, thin-walled application from the packaging sector.

The hybrid Allrounder 570 H with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and size 800 injection unit is equipped with a 4+4-cavity mould. Thin-walled lids weighing 4.52 grams will be produced in a cycle time of 4.4 seconds.

High-performance machine concept

The Arabplast exhibit is the third largest machine from the Hidrive series, which comprises six ma-chine sizes and covers a clamping force range of 600 to 5,000 kN. The high achievable production capacity of the Allrounder H is the result of meticulously combining tried and tested servo-electric and hydraulic components from the modular Allrounder system. The servo-electric clamping units and are complemented by hydraulic injection units with electro-mechanical dosage drive and position-regulated screw. This is further enhanced by performance-adapted hydraulic accumulator tech-nology.

High production capacity

The Allrounder H machine concept has been spe-cially designed for a high production capacity: Thanks to the hydraulic accumulator technology and the generously-sized injection units, Allrounder H machines also boast a correspondingly high injection performance in relation to the clamping force.

Short cycle times

In Allrounder H machines, the independent move-ment axes ensure a considerable reduction in cycle times. The high-precision, cost-effective toggle-type clamping unit can also be used to tap potential for significantly reduced cycle times on the clamping side thanks to extremely short dry cycle times, high acceleration and final speeds as well as simultane-ous movements of the clamping unit and ejector. With regard to the injection unit, the combination of position-regulated screw, hydraulic accumulator technology and servo-electric drives for the mould and dosage also contribute to cycle time reductions.

Energy efficiency

The high efficiency of the toggle-type clamping unit and servo-electric dosage drive guarantees energy-efficient operation of the Allrounder H machines. In addition, the energy recovery of the servo motors during braking also has a beneficial effect on the machines' energy consumption. As well as the servo-electric drives and braking energy recovery, Allrounder H machines also use performance-adapted hydraulic accumulator technology with the minimum amount of installed pump capacity and motors of efficiency class EFF1. As a result and depending on the application, the energy-saving potential of the Hidrive machines can be as much as 40 percent. All Allrounder H machines bear the Arburg "e²" energy efficiency label as an indication of their energy-optimised operation.

High output and availability as well as energy-optimised operation guarantee high cost effective-ness. Consequently, Hidrive machines are also suit-able for complex production tasks at competitive unit costs.
