Energy efficiency: a holistic view
Arburg declares “Energy Efficiency Allround” as its corporate objective/ Worldwide launch at the Technology Days
This package of measures serves an important objective the company has set itself for 2008, which envisages a holistic approach to optimising energy use. "Holistic" in this context means that we take account both of the company itself as well as the subsequent use of Arburg products. The goal is not simply to use as little energy as possible in the production of Allrounders and all the Arburg technology. The company also seeks to use its products and expertise in order to efficiently minimise energy consumption among its customers.
Campaign involving several steps The steps outlined below will be taken in the areas of enterprise and products. Lower energy consumption can be achieved on a company-wide basis through production optimisation, for example by reducing metal casting activities, by saving electricity through natural ventilation and energy-saving bulbs, by heat recovery technology and the use of block-type thermal power plants and renewable energy sources such as solar power and geothermal energy. Where our products are concerned, in addition to the use of energy-efficient Allrounders, we need to examine the entire injection-moulding process, which is very energy intensive. Here, for example, overall energy consumption can be analysed in terms of the material preparation, moulding and cooling processes, but also with regard to the injection moulding machine drives and the optimisation potential offered by Arburg s well-known Allrounder modularity, the mould and its temperature control, cooling and heat flow, as well as system availability. Thanks to decades of experience, Arburg has comprehensive know-how at its disposal in order to offer its customers extensive support with regard to energy-efficient production.
Activities associated with the "Energy Efficiency Allround" initiative The "Energy Efficiency Allround" package of measures comprises further activities by means of which Arburg intends to bring the focus onto the subject of energy efficiency worldwide. These include a specialist presentation at the Technology Days, an international touring event entitled "Technology on Tour 2008", the clear identification of all energy-optimised products like the electric Allrounder A, the Allrounder S advance or Allrounder with an electromechanical dosage drive with the special energy-efficiency label e², the presentation of a customer award for special achievements in energy-efficiency and the planned cooperation with the VDMA on a scheme for energy passports for machines.
The clear aim is to foster all-round co-operation with our customers in order to promote energy-efficient production systems. "Energy Efficiency Allround" will be a comprehensive campaign that will involve the company and its customers, achieving significant benefits for both sides.
