Vision XS joins consultancy team on 2012 Olympic legacy masterplan

Hamburg, (PresseBox) - Attractions industry consultancy Vision XS has been chosen as part of the team tasked with the delivery of the Olympic Legacy Masterplan Framework which will provide the masterplan for the regeneration and use of the London Olympic Games site post 2012.

UK based Vision will be working as part of the lead consultancy team on this mammoth project which is being headed by EDAW. The EDAW consortium, which produced the award-winning masterplan that helped London win the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, comprises EDAW PLC, Buro Happold, Foreign Office Architects, HOK Sport and Allies and Morrison. The team will work with the Interim Olympic Delivery Authority to further develop the Olympic Park masterplan and design all the infrastructure elements that will make up the park.

Vision will be involved in the modelling of the leisure, cultural and visitor management aspects of the project, helping to create the leisure and cultural offer that needs to be put in place after the Olympics to make the site a meaningful piece of urban regeneration. The games will act as a major catalyst for regeneration in the Lower Lea Valley and will leave a legacy of sports facilities in a new urban park, surrounded by high-density mixed use development.

Commenting on the project, David Higgins, Chief Executive-designate of the Olympic Delivery Authority, said: "Getting the site infrastructure and landscape right is a key task for the Olympic Delivery Authority over the next two years. It is not only critical for the games but also to frame one of the most significant regeneration legacies for a generation. This will create a major new park for London that after the games will become a new quarter of the capital for Londoners to live, work and play."

The masterplan includes the placement of the various Olympic venues in the area and the leisure provision for future population. Vision's consultancy role will involve a number of areas including investment opportunities and emerging options, along with technical modelling.

"We are obviously delighted to have been chosen as part of the team delivering the Legacy Masterplan Framework for the 2012 Olympic Games, " said Vision's COO Mark Abberley. "This is a further example of the type of work we are able to carry out relating to the sports sector and the regeneration of whole areas and is a continuity of the exciting opportunities we are involved in in relation to the 2010 football World Cup, the Winter Olympics and further destination management and regeneration work."
