Benxi Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., Benxi, Liaoning Province, has placed an order with ANDRITZ METALS to supply an electrolytic galvanizing plant for steel strip. The plant will operate on the basis of the Gravitel process developed by ANDRITZ and used for applications in the automotive and the household appliances industries. Start-up of the electrolytic galvanizing line, with an annual capacity of 309,000 t, is scheduled for the end of 2011.

Zhangjiagang Pohang Stainless Steel Co. Ltd., Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, has commissioned the business area to deliver a new annealing and pickling line with a planned annual capacity of 435,000 t. The contract comprises the mechanical equipment, including a skin-pass mill, the complete electrical equipment, automation, and the annealing furnace. The METALS business area designs and builds complete lines for the production and further processing of cold-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals strip. These lines consist of equipment for cold rolling, surface treatment, strip coating and finishing, punching and deep drawing, and for acid regeneration. The business area also supplies turnkey industrial furnace systems for thermal processes, such as heat treatment of slabs, forged pieces, and strip, as well as refining furnaces for the copper industry.

ANDRITZ METALS is one of the few suppliers worldwide that offers all of the required processes and technologies for production of steel strip from a single source (mechanical equipment, process engineering, electrical equipment, automation and after-sales service). This keeps the number of interfaces to a minimum and optimizes the overall process right down the line.
