St. Peter am Hart, (PresseBox) - The new MHS-Angle Measuring System offers high accuracy for swivel or rotating axes and rotary tables. Calibrating the encoder ring scale during the initial installation startup is simple by temporarily mounting a secondary encoder head and rotating the Ring Scale axis. Accuracy errors related to mechanical installation, disc eccentricity, and bearing run-out are removed in an economical way. As an example, a 162 mm diameter encoder ring scale can have an installed accuracy of finer than ± 3 arc sec. Larger diameter encoder ring scales would have even better installed accuracy.

The integration of the AMO encoder ring scale directly onto the rotating part, very close to the bearing and without a mechanical coupling is the best solution for precision positioning and high accuracy. With an IP 67 rating (fluid submersible), the ring scale can be mounted in an area where there are fluids such as oil and grease without affecting reliability or accuracy.

The stainless steel encoder ring scale can easily be made for diameters from 60 to 3000 mm, and is constructed by precision welding linear scale tape that is only 0,65mm thick. There is not a severe cost premium for larger diameters. The encoder ring scale can be press-fit onto the rotating surface. Machine servo performance can be much stiffer using our encoder system integrated directly onto the outer diameter of machine tables.

Our very accurate encoder systems are used in an increasing number of Torque Motor, Spindle, 4th & 5th axis Machine Tool, and Turning axes applications due to the higher reliability, IP 67 robustness, stiffer machine construction, and economical reasons.
