Altera Showcases Video Processing Solutions at IBC2012

Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) will demonstrate its industry-leading broadcast solutions for video processing under the theme of "Measurable Advantage" at IBC2012 at RAI Congress Amsterdam, beginning on September 7, 2012. Designers will learn from Altera technical experts how to simplify and accelerate their HD(high definition) designs using the company's latest 28-nm programmable logic devices with its video processing platform and OpenCL program for FPGAs.

Altera's in-booth demonstrations include:

A new video-processing platform built to accelerate demanding HD, 4K, and 8K applications, featuring:
- A full-size PCIe (Gen3, x16) card that can be plugged into a commercial or purpose-built server
- Two tightly coupled Altera® Stratix® V FPGAs for the most computational bandwidth
- >1500 Gbps of total memory bandwidth from DDR3, and other high-speed, low-latency memories
- A broad choice of video connectivity options, including SDI, DisplayPort, HDMI, and interface protocols, such as SFP+, 10/100GbE, PCIe®, and QSFP

Altera's 28-nm FPGAs and Video Design Framework , a highly integrated collection of IP, designs, tools, and hardware that enable video system designers to:
- Perform multichannel video processing for 1080p HD, 4K, and beyond
- Shorten the design cycle with hardware-verified, customizable reference designs
- Integrate custom video processing functions in hardware efficiently
- Eliminate costly external PHY and clocking components, such as those for DisplayPort, high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) and voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO)
- Simplify the memory subsystem and associated bandwidth bottleneck
- Minimize the bring up effort with a suite of debug, monitoring, simulation, and analysis utilities
- Improve operational efficiency by consolidating multiple equipment requirements onto one hardware platform
