Aare-Tessin Ltd for Electricity, a company of Alpiq Holding Ltd., has taken over the Romanian energy provider EHOL Distribution S.R.L. The associated transaction was closed on 1 July 2009. EHOL has a large portfolio of industrial customers in Romania. With this takeover, Alpiq has become one of the top three end-customer providers in Romania and has further expanded its position in the South-East European electricity market.

Following the acquisition of Buzmann Industries S.R.L. in 2007, Alpiq Holding Ltd. has further extended its sales activities in Romania.
