INVISTA Engineering Polymers will participate in CHINAPLAS 2013, the 27th International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries, which will be held on May 20-23, 2013 at China Import & Export Fair Complex, Pazhou, Guangzhou, PR China.

INVISTA Engineering Polymers is showcasing its TORZEN® brand PA66 resin at CHINAPLAS 2013, positioning it as a local solution to China's growing need for polyamide 6,6.

"Demand for nylon 6,6 intermediates and polymers in Asia is growing, especially in China," said David Ming, vice president, INVISTA Engineering Polymers Asia. "This growth in demand is due to key property differences between nylon 6,6 and nylon 6-a material commonly used in China today."

Compared with nylon 6, INVISTA's nylon 6,6 has several benefits:

Better molecular alignment
Higher hydrogen bonding
Higher melting point
Higher crystallinity/crystallization rate

These properties are important in many applications, but particularly in automotive and electrical/electronic markets, where nylon 6,6 brings properties can offer more strength at higher temperatures.

"With the industry's effort to create better fuel efficiency in automobiles, we expect that China's robust automobile manufacturing sector will seek to replace metal parts with nylon 6,6 to reduce weight, reduce complexity in manufacturing, and increase fuel efficiency, while delivering a better product to their customers," Ming said.

INVISTA's line of TORZEN® PA66 resin includes polyamide resins reinforced with glass, minerals and tougheners that impart distinct property advantages in various end-use applications versus other material types.

In addition to TORZEN® resins, INVISTA will also feature a wide range of specialty materials under the DYTEK®, C12(TM) and POLYSHIELD® brands, which offer solutions in the polyamide, polyurethane and polyethylene resin markets.

INVISTA's chemical intermediates business continues to expand in China. Some of the company's most recent commitments include investing in a 215,000-ton hexamethylene diamine plant and a 300,000-ton adiponitrile plant; these up-stream materials are critical in the manufacture of polyamide products. INVISTA estimates the total investment for these projects will be in excess of 6.2 billion RMB.
