adplace.com, the mobile advertising division of Symbian specialist Liquid Air Lab, enables subsidized mobile phone usage with integrated on-device advertising

Today adplace.com introduced a new mobile advertising technology on Symbian handsets at the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2008 in San Francisco. adtronic, the application, gives the consumer the ability to use mobile phone services in a similar fashion to TV and radio usage - for free, when bundled with a carrier offering. The usage of state-of-the-art applications, data, mobile TV and other unique services will grow exponentially, when they are offered free and adfinanced.

The system is integrated closely to the Symbian phone operating system
The technology, based on the proprietary "adtronic" engine, delivers visual ads seamlessly integrated with the operating system dialog boxes such as incoming calls, missed calls, SMS and MMS message alerts, strictly following the Symbian design guidelines.

The user has full control of all ads
The end-user has full control over the type of ads and frequency of impressions, using his profile of interests and the unique "Speedometer" functionality of the adtronic system.

A reward program gives the user a selection of benefits to choose from
Mobile network operators may reward users for receiving visual ads with free text messages, voice minutes, free data usage and more. These potential redemptions are combined with "adtronic" offering of free, ad-funded mobile applications and games.

3rd party Symbian software developers get a new powerful method of monetizing their applications with advertising
Developers may monetize their applications and games by easily bundling them with the adtronic technology and distributing the bundle through their existing channels. Developers expect to get more ad revenue as the ads with incoming calls or messages have a consistently higher frequency than in-application advertising, which is dependant on the individual usage of the host application. The application will also be spread through the adtronic network.

"Radio, TV and the Web, which have been free to consumers, have historically used the advertising model as a way of financing services. Now the mobile Smartphone can finance services in the same way that Radio, TV and the Internet have done in the past and present," says Mikko Linnamäki, CEO and founder of Liquid Air Lab and adplace.com.

"Our solution will help mobile operators and handset manufacturers to shift to the adfinanced model, and we chose Symbian because it combines the new ingenious open source approach, and since we have a long history of Symbian development."
