Fastest and Highest Production Capacity Inline Paint Section has been started up for Commercial Production

The worldwide today largest and fastest Inline Paint Section (IPS), which is a full organic painting production unit, integrated in a continuous hot dip galvanizing line, has recently started commercial production.

This organic Inline Paint Section consists of a pretreatment section (either for chem-coatings or passivation coatings application, followed by 2 organic painting sections for two sided primer coating and finish coating and is therefore fully equivalent to a paint process section of a continuous color coating line, exceptionally it is integrated and linked to a before ongoing galvanizing process. The production speed of that line, is equivalent to the max galvanizing process speed of 180 m/min, with a production capacity of 80 t/h or up to 500,000 t/a organic painted galvanized steel coils. This is today the largest organic painted coil production line, linked inline with a galvanizing line.

Thanks to the adphosNIR® based dryer and curing systems and the fully dynamic operating coater machines from Globus Engineering, this IPS is the first and only todays fully "on demand" complete (2 coat, 2-bake) paint production unit.

"On demand" paint production means, ongoing paint production, while interruption free

- Coil geometry changes (width and /or thickness),
- Color and / or coating changes and
- Proper paint operation during varying line speeds.

The possible curing time within 5 s (!) at a max speed of 180 m/min for applied coatings with 25 μm layer thickness have been proven already in successful production batches for several colors (white, red and brown) and from several different coating manufacturers. The IPS is built in a "cubic" tower of approx. 30 x 30 x 30 m³, containing all process equipment, except the 3 chamber RTO, which is positioned on the ground floor next to the tower.

The adphosNIR® based "on demand" Inline Paint Section can be applied and integrated also horizontally in a galvanizing line, if needed. Due to the possible compact designed layout, the adphosNIR® IPS is also possible to be integrated in most existing CGLs / EGLs.

The possible resulting cost reductions of an adphosNIR® IPS can add up to more than 70 €/t due to energy, media and operator personal savings with additional resulting benefits of production capacity increase and reduced investment costs compared to standalone CCLs, a total cost saving of up to 100 €/t can be expected.
