Parasitic components in power converters - fundamentals and measurements

Summary:

This webinar is intended for engineers who work on power converter design and testing. New technologies such as SiC and GaN operate with higher switching speeds while parasitics increase conducted emissions for this reason. It is important to keep an eye on parasitics and quantify them already in early design phases. We will be starting with an introduction into fundamentals of parasitics, variety of types and their effects, and their impact on measurements. You will be learning how to measure and identify parasistics either through online in-circuit characterization with oscilloscopes and probes or through offline characterization with LCR meters we will be focussing on in this webinar. Practical examples using the R&S LCX LCR meter will illustrate how to easily and reliably quantify parasitics with impedance analysis.

Speaker: Dr. Gabriel Rojas, Application Engineer Power Electronics, Rohde & Schwarz
