W2E turbine fulfils Chinese grid codes

The grid performance of the turbine W93 designed and market by W2E, Wind to Energy, as a licence, was measured in Zhangbei, province Hebei in September and October 2011. The National Wind Power Integration Research and Test Centre (NWIC), opened in January 2010, is a centre where wind turbine manufactures are able to conduct extensive measurements of the electrical performance of the turbine.
The focus of these measurements is on the turbine performance during a voltage drop occurred in the medium-voltage grid. These measurements are internationally known as Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT).
The measurements in Zhangbei were carried out in accordance with the Chinese Technical rule for connecting wind farm to power system GB/T 19963-20. Various two-phase and three-phase voltage drops with different deepness and durations were performed during partial load operation and full load operation. Time responses of relevant currents, voltages, power, rotational speeds, and of the wind have been recorded and analysed. Predefined time responses of active power and reactive power were of particular interest.
The 2.05 MW turbine accomplished all necessary requirements approved by the NWIC officials. At the end of 2011 the necessary certificate was issued to the Chinese licencee AVIC by the Chinese Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI). AVIC Huide Wind Power Engineering manufactures and distributes the 2.05 MW turbine under the name HD2000.
In 2012 AVIC will develop first projects in China. Therefore, the certificate is essentially mandatory. Additionally, AVIC sold 20 wind turbines which will be erected in Texas, USA.
