Fast and safe detection of smoke in the elevator shaft

(PresseBox) Passau, 23.07.2008, The control panel system ESM-6-XL/2-2 with integrated component Air Sense is developed for the fast and safe detection of smoke in the elevator shaft. The air is examined regarding to its flue gas concentration. Therefore the ratio of smoke particles is measured to a certain air volume. In the case of fire alarm is actuated immediately. The smoke outlet opening from the elevator shaft is opening with an electrical actuator, so that the smoke can remove. Further the alarm signal triggers a start of the elevator to the first evacuation level.

n this primary evacuation level the elevator forecourt is checked with a classically smoke detector for flue gases. Does the smoke detector trigger, a run up into the evacuation level two is carried out automatically.

For ventilation purposes and for the specific heat dissipation the smoke outlet opening can be managed in accordance with the individual requirements. This can be for example made by an automatic timer or by corresponding sensors.
