.
- The versatile Gigabit Ethernet module with STEADYTEC® technology.
- New module for data transmissions. - 'ConCept' - the modular connector system for transmitting power, signals and data.
- Modular platform concept for copper and fibreoptic cabling - RJ45, SC or LC fibreoptic cables

Weidmüller is extending its modular range of 'ConCept' connectors with the launch of its data module 'RockStar® ConCept ST" with STEADYTEC® technology.

'ConCept' fulfils different requirements with regard to electrical characteristics, performance ratings, signals and data with just one connector housing; based on a modular design it is a component of the 'RockStar® heavyduty family of connectors'. The new Gigabit Ethernet module 'RockStar®ConCept ST' offers a suitable interface for all applications - both for copper as well as fibreoptic cabling. 'RockStar®ConCept ST' is based on an innovative platform concept that allows as many as eight different data inserts to be integrated in the module, including RJ45 modules, SC and LC fibreoptic modules. The family of modules is being extended by a new 10pole hybrid module. Users are able to deploy the data module fitted with inserts to meet application requirements in industrial Gigabit Ethernet networks of the category Cat.6A 10 Gbit System Class EA (Ethernet TCP/IP, Profinet, Ethernet IP). The greycoloured dual module 'RockStar®ConCept ST' takes up two module slots of the solidly constructed plastic or zinc diecast module frame. Either by themselves or in combination with other 'ConCept' modules and module frames connectors are assembled to meet application requirements and are then inserted into 'heavyduty connector housings', which are designed to fulfil protection class ratings IP 65/66 or IP 68/69K. Depending on the combination of modules the user is able to transmit power, signals and data reliably and without interference with just a single connector.

Decentralised control concepts built based on different bus systems as well as modular plant components are a major determining factor for engineering considerations in mechanical and systems engineering as well as switching facilities for power transmissions and distribution. 'Heavyduty connectors' from the modular 'RockStar®ConCept' support both modularity as well as decentralised solutions. Put succinctly, they combine the power supply, signal and data lines. With its 'RockStar®ConCept ST' data module based on an innovative platform concept Weidmüller offers the user a versatile Gigabit Ethernet module.

The dual module takes up two module slots in the respective 'ConCept' module frame. A module release aid ensures removing the data module from the 'ConCept' module frame is uncomplicated. The data module can be fitted with up to eight different data inserts. These include userassembled RJ45 modules as well as RJ45, SC and LC fibreoptic modules in addition to hybrid modules with crimp connection technology. It is possible to connect onsite flexible conductors in sizes from 0.46 - 0.76 mm2 (AWG 26/7 to AWG 22/7) and solid conductors in sizes from 0.40 - 0.64 mm2 (AWG 26/1 to AWG 22/1) to the eightpole RJ45 module, which does not require specialist tools to assemble. The following crosssections can be terminated with the data inserts by means of crimp connection technology: RJ 45 eightpole - flexible conductors from 0.46 - 0.61 mm2 (AWG 27/7 to AWG 24/7), solid conductors from 0.36 - 0.51 mm2 (AWG 26/1 to AWG 24/1). The twopole SC and LC fibreoptic modules can be utilised for Plastic Optical Fibre (POF) or Glass Optical Fibre (GOF) with 50 µm/125 ?m and 62.5 µm/125 ?m cores. The tenpole hybrid inserts for signal transmissions can be terminated with conductors from 0.2 - 0.5 mm2 (AWG 24 to AWG 20). The RJ45 data inserts are equipped with topdraw quality STEADYTEC® contact technology that ensures more than 750 mating cycles are possible in line with IEC 60603-7. The data insert housing has allround 360° shielding and is optionally available with an additional shield clamp. Users are able to deploy 'RockStar®ConCept ST' data modules in industrial Gigabit Ethernet networks of the category Cat.6A 10 Gbit System Class EA (Ethernet TCP/IP, Profinet, Ethernet IP) without any restrictions. What is more these modules are suitable for 'Power over Ethernet' (POE) in accordance with IEEE 802.3af.

Designed with a grey coloured finish (RAL 7031) the 'RockStar®ConCept ST' module housing is made from a UL listed and railway approved polycarbonate. Further characteristics include: an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +75 °C; flammability class V-0 to UL94 and I1F2 to NFF 16-101. The data module has GOST and GL approvals. Other approvals are in preparation.

With its 'RockStar®ConCept' Weidmüller is committed to providing a logical, coherent modular concept with which it is possible to implement connectors to meet different requirements with regard to electrical characteristics, performance ratings, signals and data. This concept envisages selecting different modules in line with application requirements and inserting these into solidly designed module frames. The user assembles this unit into the housing of the 'RockStar® heavyduty connector', which in turn fulfils protection class specifications to IP65/66 or IP68/69K.

The modular 'RockStar® ConCept' system proves its worth in mechanical and systems engineering as well as railway industry applications.
