Syslogic at InnoTrans 2014: Embedded computers for railways

EN50155 (TX class) transportation computers

(PresseBox) (Waldshut-Tiengen, )
Syslogic, the embedded experts, has specialized in industrial computers for mobile use. For the first time, it will be exhibiting at the InnoTrans in Berlin, the largest trade fair for transport technology. Syslogic presents its portfolio of certified railway computers.

Syslogic, the experts for embedded computers and industrial HMI systems, has a complete portfolio of certified railway computers. And the company will be showcasing itself at the world's largest railway trade fair, the InnoTrans, in Berlin from September 23 to the 26.

Florian Egger, sales manager at Syslogic, says: "Our certified railway computers receive a very positive response in the train sector." The 'rolling' stock market is accordingly strategically important for Syslogic and participating at InnoTrans the logical consequence, according to Egger.

Geared to railway needs

Syslogic's railway computers are used in innumerable railway applications. For instance, they can be used as board computer or video recorder. The Syslogic railway computers are available in a variety of housings and interface configurations. All railway computers have sturdy industrial construction and railway certification complying with EN50155 (TX class). These allow the Syslogic computers to withstand not only shocks and vibrations but extreme temperatures as well.

All railway computers work without any moving parts. All components are made for constant operation (24/7) and can withstand extended temperature ranges of −40 to +85°C (−40 to 185°F). And, an additional commonality among all Syslogic railway computers, all M12 plugs are from the new ultra-lock series by Molex.

Industrial processors ensure long life without compromise

The railway computers are equipped with the Atom-E processor by Intel which is designed exclusively for demanding industrial applications. Producing very little waste heat, because of low power consumption, it will have a positive effect on MTBF values and ultimately on the life cycle of the entire railway computer.

Ultra-rugged computer for exterior use

Syslogic also has a very robust computer for exterior use - the Railway Computer RPC Compact 71. The main feature of the RPC Compact 71 is its enclosed aluminum housing with IP67-protection rating. This makes it resistant to moisture and dust laden environments. Like all Syslogic devices, the computers comply with EMC regulations. Testing has also shown that the RPC Compact 71 even meets Russian GOST standards: That means a cold start at −50°C (−57° F) is possible.

Syslogic wants to further strengthen its position on the railway market. Florian Egger says: "We will be launching a new railway product at the InnoTrans." Syslogic's target is to make 30% of its revenue from the railway sector within the next two years, according to Egger.
