S&T implements first SAP project in a commercial bank in Slovenia

Banka Sparkasse relies on S&T Slovenia to realize SAP Banking solution

(PresseBox) (Wien, )
The system based on SAP ERP 2005 for Banking enables the Banka Sparkasse to keep the general ledger, the main accounting record for the preparation of financial controlling reports, within the group. It also covers the preparation of standard reports for regulatory institutions.

There are several reasons why Sparkasse, a part of Erste Bank Group, chose this solution: As their business expanded and the company grew quickly, the bank exceeded the capabilities and responsiveness of the existent IT solutions and the developmental environments and tools required too long developmental cycles. They were also not adequate for integration and interoperability with other systems within the bank. Their maintenance and change management were costly and they also inhibited quality consulting and the reliability of available data. On contrary the new SAP ERP 2005 for Banking solution provides the bank with a system that allows to easily follow the needs of the clients and the market as well as the requirements claimed by the regulatory authorities. Within the framework of the only five-month project, S&T Slovenia also carried out training courses for users and together with the bank supplemented the content analysis and prepared user instructions.

"The process of implementing a new system for financial and back office operations in Banka Sparkasse required a high level of knowledge of the financial business and its processes and the successful cooperation with the client in adapting the solution to their specific needs. Our long expertise within the financial sector and the diverse experiences gained through past projects have proven us to be a competent partner for banks," says Christian Rosner, CEO of S&T Group about the project. Suzana Jenko, IT Manager at Banka Sparkasse on their decision to work with S&T Slovenia: "We chose S&T Slovenia as they were the ones with the most extensive experience in the financial segment on the Slovenian market and because we could expect to save time due to the ready-made business plans for banks and financial institutions. S&T Slovenia did also provide competent people, SAP consultants, and engage them in the project in order to achieve the successful implementation, which we did."
