SEP sesam validated as a backup solution for Fujitsu Integrated System PRIMEFLEX for SAP Landscapes

SEP sesam suited for use with the integrated data center solution Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX for SAP Landscapes / Consistent next step in the partnership between SEP and Fujitsu / Experience from 20 years of SAP certification leveraged very effectively

SEP AG, a manufacturer of platform-independent hybrid backup and disaster recovery solutions, and Fujitsu have taken the next step as part of the Fujitsu Alliance Program: The backup solution SEP sesam has now been validated for use with Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX for SAP Landscapes, an integrated solution for running SAP, which is particularly well suited for medium-sized companies. Under the PRIMEFLEX brand, Fujitsu offers integrated systems that consist not only of servers, storage and connectivity solutions, but also include software and the management layer. This opens up new possibilities for medium-sized companies, in particular, to establish flexible data backup solutions in a modern storage environment at an attractive price. The Fujitsu FLEXFRAME team and SAP have tested SEP sesam for high-performance use in data centers. Backup and recovery for the paths, Oracle applications and SAP HANA were also tested.

Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX for SAP Landscapes is based on the FlexFrame Infrastructure developed by Fujitsu for sophisticated and high-availability SAP application environments. This enables companies and organizations to implement powerful data center technology very quickly. They can then expand their business and optimize their complex IT environments. SAP Landscapes that are organized under PRIMEFLEX, in particular, offer modern orchestration and administrative functions and have been optimized for the operational concept of the entire SAP Landscape. Centralized SAP software components can be distributed dynamically to both physical and virtual resources based on the business requirements. SEP sesam is particularly well suited for backing up the data in PRIMEFLEX for SAP because SEP has been SAP-certified for over 20 years. The validation specifically for PRIMEFLEX for SAP Landscapes that has been achieved together with Fujitsu confirms the good match. This means that the SAP data that is mission-critical for companies is secured perfectly at optimized Fujitsu data centers thanks to the backup solution SEP sesam. Fujitsu and its sales partners now offer SEP sesam in combination with Fujitsu’s own hardware from a single source.

“SEP sesam is now one of only very few validated data protection solutions for Fujitsu FLEXFRAME environments,” says Georg Moosreiner, CEO of SEP AG. “This is yet another step in our successful partnership with Fujitsu and shows what high performance our backup and recovery solutions offer. Especially medium-sized companies that rely on solutions ‘Made in Germany,’ thus receive an attractive and competitive package.”

Joachim Witte, Head of the SAP team at Fujitsu, adds: “Integrated systems are becoming increasingly important for our customers because the components in complex infrastructures must be matched optimally to each other. We therefore choose our partners very carefully and examine the efficiency and quality of the relationships very closely. Our partner SEP fully meets our requirements. I would also like to emphasize that SEP sesam has more than achieved the required performance in PRIMEFLEX for SAP Landscapes environments. SEP’s many years of experience with SAP environments plays an important role here.”

With SEP sesam, it is possible to back up and restore all of the data in either a centralized or decentralized manner across network and system boundaries. This includes a wide range of applications and databases including SAP environments and virtual machines with different types of operating systems. The intelligent Si3 Deduplication technology significantly reduces the volume of data to be stored. Companies and organizations in over 50 countries rely on SEP, including ALDI Nord, SPIEGEL-Verlag, Stadtwerke Potsdam, the Port of San Diego, the Technical University of Vienna, GAD and Georgetown University.

SEP AG

SEP AG is a manufacturer of backup and disaster recovery solutions for the protection of cross-platform, heterogeneous IT environments. The data backup solution "SEP sesam" is "Made in Germany" and protects a broad range of virtual environments, operating systems, applications and databases. Its universal support for complex system environments strongly distinguishes SEP's solution from those of its competitors. Consolidation of multiple backup systems to form a centrally administrable hybrid backup solution is therefore possible. Thanks to its intelligent and flexibly usable Si3-deduplication technology, this solution significantly reduces the need for backup storage. Si3 replication allows for cross-site backup of systems and bandwidth-saving outsourcing of backup data. Here, SEP places particular importance on an extended support matrix that also includes older systems. Companies and organizations can thus perform high-speed data backups and recoveries independently of the sites. This gives users the flexibility to grow and modify their IT infrastructure in a customized manner. With the solutions that SEP offers, business-critical data is always kept available to save time and, as a result, reduce the need for capital as well as operating costs.

SEP has been developing and marketing enterprise data protection solutions since 1992 and its headquarters are located near Munich, Germany. A subsidiary that consists of a support and sales team is also based in the USA. Furthermore, SEP has a strong partner network and relies entirely on resellers for its sales. Its customers in more than 50 countries include Aldi Nord, SPIEGEL publishing house, public services Potsdam, Port of San Diego, Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and the Technical University of Vienna.
