Schaltbau GmbH exhibiting at InnoTrans for the tenth time

(PresseBox) (München, )
Under the motto "Customizing is Our Standard" Schaltbau GmbH will be exhibiting its innovations in railway engineering at this year's InnoTrans in Berlin (September 23 to 26) at stand 102 in hall 2.2. Highlighted will be the new S337 Series configurable master controller, the CH1130/02 update of the CH Series high-voltage contactor, and the newly developed replacement insert for the receptacle of the UIC558 Series connector. On the occasion of Schaltbau's 85th anniversary there will be a company history quiz at the stand, and the winners will be awarded with attractive prizes.

The new S337 Series modular master controller allows for configuring a control device from standardized components for almost every desired function and makes possible a system design that can easily be adapted to address specific customer requirements in different countries. It has a compact rugged design, is highly resistant to shock and vibration and can be relied on as a safe, reliable, low-maintenance and long-lasting piece of control gear. And in case of malfunction a faulty module will be easy to identify and replace. This will pay off in reduced costs for service and maintenance and in higher safety and availability of rolling stock.

Single pole CH1130/02 high-voltage contactor with new design

Schaltbau has introduced an update of its CH Series contactors which have proven their worth in industrial and railway applications for decades. Its completely modernized design is comparable to the one of the most successful CT series. The new CH1130/02 also uses permanent magnets and ceramic elements for quenching the electric arc, thus ensuring optimal functionality and reliability of the contactor.

The customer is now offered a new version for 3 kV DC and AC with a current-carrying capacity of up to 200 A which will replace the 4 existing CH contactor series. The switching device is especially suited for use as precharging and switch-on contactor in power supplies and as control contactor for resistor banks in heating and air conditioning equipment.

Replacement insert for UIC558 receptacle

UIC558 Series connectors are designed for connecting lines used for remote control of lights and doors or for public address systems in passenger coaches or multiple unit trains. Schaltbau has developed a new replacement insert for the receptacle of the UIC558 connector which is likely to reduce maintenance and downtime considerably. Usually, if during maintenance it becomes necessary to replace worn contacts you have to cut the old cable in order to replace the insert and after that wire a new cable to it or, in the worst case, rewire the whole railway vehicle. Now, there is no need of a cable replacement any longer. All you need do is exchange the replacement insert of the receptacle. You can do that from the front and outside the engine shed and you can even drop the electrical testing of the connector's contacts and wires.
