VPC3+CLF PROFIBUS DP Slave Controller ASIC with new features

Profichip enhances its successful VPC3+CLF (PQFP44) range with the VPC3+CLF C3-step version, under the part number PA002008

(PresseBox) (Herzogenaurach, )
This component is based on the VPC3+CLF that has been available since 2003 and, in addition to the known characteristics (DP-V0/V1/V2 functions, 4Kb RAM memory and 5V/3.3V power supply), offers the PROIFBUS-DP-V2 specified service “Time synchronization”. In particular, applications with increased security requirements need the support of this function in the chip, in order to be able to provide precise timestamps for all events throughout the system or to be able to trigger time-synchronized control functions. A further goal was to reduce power consumption in comparison to existing components.

An enhanced version of the introduced software stack is available that makes using the new functions user-friendly. Corresponding software versions are also offered, to support redundant slave applications with one or two micro-controllers.

This means that Profichip GmbH offers the only “pure” Slave Controller with this function scope in two different versions.

The first samples will be available from the end of Q1, 2008. Serial production will follow from the middle of April.

profichip GmbH

The Team of profichip GmbH is developing fieldbus ASICs since 1998. Besides the ASICs for PLC-systems´ industrial communication, the initial PROFIBUS Slave Controller VPC3+ was the first release in 1999. After the successful launch, profichip extended the range of compatible PROFIBUS Slave ASICs by the Lean Slave VPCLS in 2000. Since then, profichip continuously improves available PROFIBUS features in their ASICs. Proof for the innovative power of profichip was the realisation of SPEED7 – the High Performance PLC in silicon. Programmable in STEP7® language, SPEED7 marks a substantial progress in the evolution of PLC.

Profichip philosophy exceeds the ordinary developing and sales of ASICs by translation of customers´ ideas into solutions for their requirements. Profichip creates the missing link. The result is automation in silicon for customers throughout the world.
