PMD's partner Bluetechnix presents 3D camera equipped with PMD PhotonICs® 19k-S3 Time-of-Flight 3D chip

(PresseBox) (Siegen, )
PMD's partner Bluetechnix premieres the first products of its new Argos® line of 2D and 3D camera systems together with software and tools of partner Nisys who demonstrates the seamless integration into the Advanced Development & Analysis Framework (ADAF) at Vision 2012 in Stuttgart, November 6th to 8th.

Argos3D - P100 with pmd intelligence
The Argos3D - P100 is a new 3D camera operating on the Time-of-Flight (ToF) principle. The Argos3D - P100 is equipped with a PMD PhotonICs® 19k-S3 Time-of-Flight 3D chip. Using active IR illumination, the sensor is able to capture 2D as well as 3D information at a resolution of 160x120 pixels with up to 160 frames per second independently of ambient light. With a range of 3m, a field of view of 90° and a size of 75 x 57 x 26 mm, this USB camera can be used for next generation sensor systems in various application fields like robotics, gesture recognition, HMI or people counting.

ADAF & TRS by Nisys
ADAF (Advanced Development & Analysis Framework) is a platform-independent plugin-based data processing middleware with a flexible structure for recording data, annotation of ground-truth data, integration and validation of algorithms. The Evaluation Framework within Nisys ADAF comes with out-of-the-box data evaluation algorithms. Moreover, Nisys supplies its clients with the ADAF SDK, which allows easy development of new modules.
The traffic simulation environment TRS is specifically designed for endurance tests (> 250,000 km). Its flexible internal design allows easy integration of any client-specific module.

PMD PhotonICs® 19k-S3
The PMD PhotonICs® 19k-S3 is the first commercially available Time-of-Flight 3D chip. The optical sensor enables the real-time capture of distance and grayscale information. Due to the outstanding sensitivity and improved performance high accuracy with extremely low power consumption is achievable. Read-out clocks of 15MPixel/s are possible. Thanks to the integrated SBI (Suppression of Background Illumination) technology, a well known PMD feature, this innovative product can be deployed in indoor and outdoor environments. The resistance to motion blur allows detecting fast moving objects. A Region-of-Interest (ROI) function enables a flexible and application specific lateral resolution. All the same, the chip is suitable for various applications such as automotive environmental detection, factory automation, mobile robotics as well as digital signage to mention just a few.
