Buying IT services versus IT licenses is quickly gaining popularity due to the higher flexibility offered in respect to costs, choice of functions and number of users. NovaStor will present two new data protection product lines at the CeBIT 2009 that respond to this trend. NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce focuses on the backup of company data, while NovaBACKUP xSP was designed for service providers who want to offer tailor-made SaaS data protection solutions.
IT services for businesses
With the help of NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce, companies can provide their employees with data backup functions that suit their individual needs. For example, a mobile employee’s business critical data can automatically be backed up to their corporate computing center while the employees themselves can back up other data locally. Functions offered can also be tailored to the type of data the individual employee needs to save. If an employee in the field sales force needs to restore his/her entire system, he/she can do this with the help of a local image. If single files were lost, these can be recovered from an online backup.
NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce can help companies reduce the number of company wide data protection systems. This results in lower costs and less administrative work. In addition, isolated applications can be replaced with a central solution that allows the implementation of uniform data protection standards. Further cost savings may be achieved by excluding private employee data from the company wide data backup process.
SaaS solutions targeted at home users and businesses
NovaBACKUP xSP will allow ISPs to offer data protection services that permit home users as well as businesses to only pay for the functions they need. By making use of NovaBACKUP xSP’s modular system, ISPs can provide local backup, imaging, open file backup, encrypted online backup and more. Support for Microsoft Exchange and SQL is also available. Users will be able to choose the combination of services that represent the best fit with their budgets and IT requirements.
Providers looking to offer data backup as SaaS will also appreciate in the customization option available with NovaBACKUP xSP. In particular the branding of the user interface in the ISP’s own design is expected to be in high demand. Other benefits of the software include the round the clock account access ISPs can offer to their clients. ISPs will also welcome a variety of automation and reporting options as well as a central, user friendly administrative interface.
According to NovaStor, both new products will be available for sale at the end of Q1 2009.
