- Swiss premium pay-TV operator Teleclub chooses NDS VideoGuard® conditional access (CA) to secure its digital pay-TV programming bouquets
- Teleclub to benefit from market-leading VideoGuard security, acknowledged as the best pay-TV security technology on the market
- Standards-based Simulcrypt solution will ensure seamless deployment, with no interruption to services for subscribers

NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that Teleclub, the leading premium pay-TV operator in Switzerland, has selected world market-leading NDS VideoGuard® conditional access (CA) technology to secure its programming broadcast on its digital cable networks nationwide. The agreement represents the first customer win for NDS in Switzerland.

Teleclub, which has over 80,000 digital cable TV subscribers across Switzerland, will benefit from the robust security provided by NDS’ CA and DRM (Digital Rights Management) technology, currently protecting content service revenues exceeding $40 billion for pay-TV operators of all sizes around the globe. VideoGuard is the best-in-class CA technology with an unsurpassed track record in securing digital content, protecting digital pay-TV networks from the threat of piracy.

During the coming weeks, NDS and Teleclub will begin the implementation of VideoGuard technology to secure the digital cable distribution of Teleclub’s programming services. The implementation of VideoGuard on the Teleclub platform will have no impact on delivery of services to subscribers thanks to an innovative Simulcrypt solution from NDS. All new set-top-boxes (STB) to be deployed by Teleclub will be integrated with VideoGuard.

Dr Wilfried Heinzelmann, Member of the Board of Teleclub, said: “Securing digital content with NDS VideoGuard is both highly efficient and effective. That’s why Teleclub decided to select NDS and entrust a fundamental part of our business to VideoGuard. We look forward to working with NDS as our new technology partner.”

Yves Padrines, Vice President, Business Development at NDS and General Manager NDS GmbH, said: “We are more than proud to announce that Teleclub, one of Europe’s true pay-TV pioneers, having started operations back in 1982, has chosen to entrust VideoGuard CA to secure its premium pay-TV programming and protect its service revenues.”

He continued: “This represents our first customer win in Switzerland and brings the aggregated total of new CA agreements for major pay-TV platforms in German-speaking territories to six. We look forward to supporting Teleclub in its upcoming initiatives to deliver to subscribers the pay-TV services they want.”
