Gleichmann Electronics expands its LCD display portfolio

Distribution agreement signed with RCL Display

(PresseBox) (Stutensee, Germany, )
With immediate effect, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH is the first official pan-European distributor of RCL Display Limited, headquartered in Hong Kong. During a management meeting in Stutensee (Germany), Managing Director Norman Wong and Thomas Klein, Managing Director of Gleichmann Electronics, signed a corresponding agreement.

Founded in 1981, RCL Display already specialized at an early stage on the design and manufacture of innovative and high-quality custom LCDs. In the past 27 years, because of its uncompromising quality policy, the ISO 9001, QS 9000, ISO 14001 and TS 16949 certified company was able to establish itself as a sought-after OEM partner of well-known industrial customers and automobile manufacturers. In Dongguan, South China, approximately 2,400 employees currently process more than 500,000 m² glass per year with a continuing strong increasing trend. "Right from the beginning, we strive to convince with technical superiority, first-class quality and fair prices. This business policy helps us to grow further, even during difficult economic times, because ultimately nothing is more expensive for the customer than bad quality," says Norman Wong, Managing Director of RCL Display.

As Norman Wong emphasized on the occasion of the signing of the agreement; with Gleichmann Electronics we are pleased to have found a partner with similar high quality demands and well-founded technical know-how. "The design-in oriented business model of Gleichmann Electronics and the many years of experience in the implementation of customer-specific display solutions offer us ideal conditions for an optimal support of customers - from the planning phase right up to the finished product."

Thomas Klein and Line Manager Roland Federle, stated that RCL Display's experience in handling all of today's available LCD technologies, bonding methods and process variants are of significant importance for Gleichmann Electronics. According to Roland Federle; among other things, RCL Display is one of the few manufacturers, which can fulfill the high expectations of customers from the metering sector with respect to lifespan of the display. The company also holds a pioneering role in the current strong demand for 'Enhanced Blackness TN Technology', which essentially was originally solely developed for clients in the automotive industry. "RCL Display excels with simple TN glass in small volumes just the same as with sophisticated display versions in COG technology with special TAB solutions and special backlight requirements. Rafael Boehm, Marketing Manager Custom LCDs of Gleichmann Electronics is also impressed with the flexibility and diversity: "Whether 'Black Masc', 'Dye Fluid' or the availability of different glass thicknesses from 1.1 mm to 0.3 mm - hardly any manufacturer currently offers more variety with constant high levels of quality," says Rafael Boehm, pleased.

RCL Display's test laboratories also allow every imaginable form of technical analyses and measurements. Not only contrast ratio, response time, viewing angle and iso-contrast can be measured but also, for example, the thickness of empty and filled cells. The offering is rounded off with extensive temperature and climate tests. Norman Wong and Thomas Klein therefore agree: "Gleichmann Electronics' many years of design-in experience and the custom design resources of RCL Display offer ideal prerequisites for a successful partnership with benefits for the customers."

MSC Technologies GmbH

Since its foundation in 1979, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH, in the same company group with MSC Vertriebs GmbH, has established itself as one of the leading pan European distributors of electronic components. One of the reasons for the high acceptance by customers and suppliers is the company's early focus on comparatively few, highly sophisticated products such as microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, graphic displays and customized battery solutions. The in-depth technical know-how of our sales engineers and field applications engineers enable us to implement complete new designs right up to the manufactured product to satisfy customers' requests. Owning two ASIC design centers, a research laboratory and one of Europe's largest, state-of-the-art programming facilities, Gleichmann & Co Electronics GmbH leads the way in custom design services.
