Kapazitive Sensoren sind für berührungslose Weg-, Abstands- und Positionsmessungen konzipiert. Sie zeichnen sich durch ihre Langzeitstabilität, Zuverlässigkeit und Temperaturstabilität aus. Das kapazitive Messprinzip ist in der Regel nicht für Messungen im Industrieumfeld ausgelegt. Das kapazitive Messverfahren basiert auf dem Prinzip eines idealen Plattenkondensators. Die Gesamtkapazität ändert sich, wenn sich der Abstand zwischen den Platten, also Sensor und Messobjekt, verschiebt.
