Mechatronik at IAA 2013 (Hall4, Stand C29)

At the 2013 IAA, the Mechatronik group of companies demonstrate on a 170 m² booth the complete scope of work from restoration of a Mercedes-Benz classic up to its NewTech definition, the Mechatronik M-SL.

(PresseBox) (Pleidelsheim, )
When the 65. Internationale Automobilausstellung IAA opens its gates, also this time the Mechatronik Group of companies will be present, for the third time in a row. Exhibits will be typical examples of the three Mechatronik companies Mechatronik Classic, Mechatronik Trade and Mechatronik Engineering.
They cover the full span of the group's offerings, standing for tradition and future, precision and dilligence of handicrafting. Always under the motto "all from one source". This meaning vehicle trading, part or full restoration, maintenance or repair, and implementing modern technology in classic cars with the star.

Innovative technology for Mercedes-Benz classics
The core of the Mechatronik presentation at IAA is a Mercedes-Benz 430 M-SL currently under work, representing the Mechatronik idea of combining optical originality and technical day-to-day usability. A MB 280 SL "Pagoda" which is completely restored at Mechatronik Classic and equipped with technical upgrades at Mechatronik Engineering. These upgrades consist, among others, of a Mercedes-Benz V8 fuel injected engine with 3-valve-technology, a cubic capacity of 4.299ccm and a power of 279hp as well as of a 5-speed NAG automatic gearbox. This modern technology allows an exhaust emission classification of Euro 2 / Euro 3 and grants you a green "fine dust sticker" (particluarity in Germany). To handle the increased power, these vehicles are equipped with a 4-channel anti blocking system (ABS) and traction control (TCS). Together with the retrofitted 3-point safety belts these features significantly increase safety of driver and co-driver. A customized suspension kit especially developed by Mechatronik helps keeping control of driving dynamics. Further specialties of the vehicle conversion are, among others, optional features such as electric windows with comfort function, heated seats and the Mechatronik sound system. All changes to the car are carried out in line with the Mechatronik Engineering philosophy that the technology is adapted to the vehicle and not vice versa. Thus, all modifications can be reversed should the client wish to do so.

Skillful craftmanship mastering restoration
Another exhibit on the Mechatronik stand demonstrates what Mechatronik Classic with their claim for perfection, quality and passion can achieve. One of the last W111 built, a Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet can be seen. It initially was delivered to the US, changing ownership in 2004. Upon request of the new owner, the car in more than 1,600 hours had been tenderly and lavishly restored. For this restoration, the vehicle was completely disassembled into its constituent parts, before being cleaned, inspected and then lovingly restored with the exclusive use of original or authentic spare parts independently verified by Mechatronik Classic.

Vehicle trading
The third exhibit is a 1955 white / red checked interior Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing" Coupé. The car had been fully restored by a foreign workshop for a period of over two years and has since then been maintained by Mechatronik Classic. This vehicly is a typical example for the Mechatronik Trade offering.

Precision and New-Tech go side by side
The fulfillment of requirements regarding precision and quality mastered by the Mechatronik employees can be whitnessed by looking at some selected examples of chrome parts exhibited on the stand. Chrome works have need of a perfect surface of the underlying metal which requires lots of experience gained over time and therefore is hard to find elsewhere on the market.
Also displayed on the stand is the Mechatronik developed special suspension kit, consisting of a stainless steel double tube hydraulic shock absorber with gas filling, allowing compression and rebound damping in different settings and thus supporting an improved driving experience in the Mechatronik SL or in the Mechatronik Coupé / -Cabriolet. These suspension kits can also be employed when retrofitting vehicles of the W108, W111 and W113 series.
All exhibits prove the broad and extensive offering of the Mechatronik Group of companies, from classical craftmanship at Mechatronik Classic, trading Mercedes-Benz classics at Mechatronik Trade, up to innovative ideas and implementing new technology at Mechatronik Engineering
