Pharmazeutische Produktionsanlagen müssen so konstruiert sein, dass sie eine GMP-gerechte Herstellung von Arzneimitteln ermöglichen. Dies betrifft zum einen die Funktionalität, zum anderen müssen die Anlagen leicht zu reinigen sein. Beide Aspekte werden wesentlich durch die Auswahl geeigneter Werkstoffe sowie durch hygienegerechte Konstruktionsmerkmale bestimmt.

Dieses Buch erläutert die Grundlagen der Anlagenplanung gemäß der Good Engineering Practice (GEP). Unter anderem werden Eigenschaften und Einsatzgebiete von Edelstahl und Kunststoffen vorgestellt sowie wichtige Anforderungen an Schmiermittel und Dichtungsmaterialien beschrieben. Anhand zahlreicher Praxisbeispiele werden allgemeine Prinzipien der hygienegerechten Konstruktion veranschaulicht und Lösungen vorgestellt, die den Bedienerschutz gewährleisten.
