In February 2016, Berlin-based PCS Power Converter Solutions GmbH and Holzkirchen-based Transtechnik GmbH & Co. KG were purchased by Knorr-Bremse and changed their names to Knorr-Bremse PowerTech GmbH, Berlin and Knorr-Bremse PowerTech GmbH & Co. KG, Holzkirchen respectively. Operating in the market under the banner of Knorr-Bremse PowerTech, the two companies offer a variety of different onboard power supply systems and battery chargers for all types of rail vehicles, from metros to high speed trains. Their portfolio also includes electrical energy supply systems for industrial applications.
Energy requirements on trains are increasing due to the need for higher comfort and security. The efficient energy supply systems from Knorr-Bremse PowerTech are optimally integrated into the onboard systems to regulate energy consumption.
