Molecular imaging - making the invisible visible

(PresseBox) (Tuttlingen, ) Using a novel light source, the endoscopy expert KARL STORZ is combining the ICG fluorescence method (ICG = indocyanine green) known from other specialties with endoscopic principles. The goal is to excite an injected marker with red light using a special light source and corresponding endoscope and to thereby detect the arrival of the fluorescent dye. Its accumulation allows the surgeon to visually check for sufficient circulation, e.g. in anastomoses after colorectal tumor removal and in skin and muscle transplants. KARL STORZ has hereby proven that the company can successfully establish its innovative solutions in molecular imaging as well.
