The Jenoptik Lasers & Material Processing division has received a large order from a well-known German manufacturer of medical technology. In 2014 and 2015, Jenoptik will manufacture so-called multicolor thin-disk lasers, to be used mainly in ophthalmology. The order is a continuation of many years of successful cooperation between the two companies.
The lasers are diode-pumped thin-disk lasers of the Jenoptik JenLas® D2 product family. They emit laser light between 532 and 659 nanometers and are ideal for integration into laser therapy systems. These lasers make medically gentle operations possible, especially in ophthalmology, dermatology, surgery, and urology.
Jenoptik has produced lasers for medical technology at the Jena plant since 1999. More than 17,000 of these lasers are used around the world, certified for the strict requirements of the medical technology sector. Jenoptik is one of the few providers worldwide that can manufacture complex lasers and laser systems in production series meeting the strict process safety and quality standards for medical technology.
