Jenoptik introduces new laser systems for crystalline photovoltaic onto the market

(PresseBox) (Jena, )
At the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (PVSEC) in Valencia, Spain, the Lasers & Material Processing division is exhibiting a new and more powerful infrared disk laser for solar cell processing as well as a modular laser system for increasing the efficiency of crystalline solar cells.

The new and powerful infrared disk laser JenLas® disk IR70 primarily meets the highly specific requirements of new photovoltaic manufacturing technologies in which efficiency is increased by relocating the contacts onto the rear side of the solar cells. In traditional processing, the contacts are laid on the front side of the solar cell, casting shadows onto an area that is now available for solar insolation. In addition to insertion of the contacts into the backs of cells by means of laser drilling, the new Jenoptik laser is also suitable for wafer marking, cell doping and edge isolation of wafers. The pulse length of the laser can be adjusted independently of the repetition rate.

Jenoptik is also introducing to the trade professionals in Valencia a modular laser system of the product family JENOPTIK-VOTAN(TM) Solas 1800/3600, in which a variety of laser machining processes for crystalline solar cells can be integrated depending on the needs of the customer. These include such processes as laser drilling, selective emitter doping, selective ablation of dielectric layers, laser edge isolation, laserfired contacts and thermal laser separation. As a fully automatic production machine, the system can process up to 3,600 wafers per hour and can be integrated into existing as well as new production lines.

From the 6th to the 9th of September, Jenoptik will be at PVSEC in Valencia, Spain: level 2, hall 4, stand A8. Further information about JenLas® disk IR70 is available here http://www.jenoptik.com/.... Further information about JENOPTIK-VOTAN(TM) Solas 1800/3600 is available here http://www.jenoptik.com/...

About the Jenoptik Lasers & Material Processing division

In the Lasers & Material Processing division we have control of the entire valueadded chain of laser material processing and are one of the leading providers - from component through to complete system. In the area of laser, Jenoptik has specialized in highquality semiconductor materials and reliable diode lasers as well as innovative solidstate lasers, for example disk and fiber lasers. In the area of highpower diode lasers Jenoptik is acknowledged worldwide as a leader in quality for highpower diode lasers. In the area of laser processing systems we develop systems that are integrated into production facilities for our customers as part of their process optimization and automation. These systems enable our customers to work with plastics, metals, glass, ceramics, semiconductor materials and solar cells, both in thinfilm as well as wafer technology, with maximum efficiency, precision and safety.
