The Croatian company Konèar Electric Vehicles and the Jenoptik Defense & Civil Systems division intend to cooperate more closely in future, in particular in the segments modernization and overhauling of existing vehicles and the manufacture of new vehicles. For that purpose, both companies signed a declaration of intent at the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin on September 21, 2016.
Jenoptik and Konèar have been collaborating now for around three years. As part of a project Jenoptik recently supplied compact, roof-mounted diesel-electric generating sets to Konèar.
“The global rail technology market is of great strategic importance for us. Thus, the cooperation will significantly contribute to our further growth in this segment,” explained Stefan Stenzel, Head of the Jenoptik Defense & Civil Systems division.
“Based on positive previous experience, cooperation with Jenoptik gives us new opportunities for further development and market expansion,” said Ivan Bahun, President of the Managing Board of Konèar Electric Vehicles Inc.
Jenoptik produces individual components for the rail technology market such as generators or electric motors as well as customized complete systems that supply power to on-board systems, traction motors or entire locomotives and traction vehicles independently of external energy sources. That allows customers to benefit from greater comfort and improved performance plus a more energy-efficient, reliable and environmentally-friendly power supply.
