Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in real-time at your wrist: smartwatches arrive within the manufacturing

An innovation at the HANNOVER MESSE: MES specialist introduces iTAC.smart.WatchApp

(PresseBox) (Montabaur, )
As from now smartwatches for the manufacturing: iTAC Software AG (www.itacsoftware.com) is presenting its new iTAC.smart.WatchApp as extension of the iTAC.BI.Portal application at HANNOVER MESSE. From April 13 to 17 visitors are being informed about the application to monitor the production in real-time in hall 7 at booth A04. For application scenarios of the Industry 4.0 the new solution functions as an intelligent human machine interface. Smartwatches are “reduced” computers in miniature. Through their radio technology they are able to communicate with smartphones and tablets. What now arrives with the Apple Watch at private users, is also finding appropriate fields of application within the manufacturing. Therefore, iTAC has developed a new app to support Industry 4.0 processes even more extensively.

The iTAC.smart.WatchApp is based on the technical infrastructure and database of the iTAC BI-Service. The application works as follows: The stations of each manufacturing line are equipped with NFC tags. Through holding the smartphone onto the tag, the user choses the station and after that the phone is automatically connected to the EMI service of the iTAC.MES.Suite. Within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) the desired KPIs of this station are then periodically analyzed and transferred to the watch. Through “swiping” on the smartwatch’s display different KPIs of the desired machine can be chosen. The KPIs are delivered to the watch as long as the user does not close the app or does not chose another station.

Current KPIs are available in no time at all
The wearable dashboard of the iTAC.smart.WatchApp creates an additional user interface of the iTAC.BI.Portal. It delivers comfortably and mobile KPIs in real-time from the manufacturing and guarantees the data’s permanent actualization. Because of a quick selection of the station with NFC tag, a separate authentication is not necessary. Thus, the manufacturing can be monitored and controlled reliably, because an immediate reaction to any dif-ferences within the KPIs is ensured.
With the new app iTAC supports its Business Intelligence solution which is integrated into the Manufacturing Execution System and web-based as well. Thus, iTAC guarantees a high transparency and efficiency within the manufacturing processes of future Smart Factories.

Further information about the iTAC.smart.WatchApp and the “Smart Electronic Factory – the Industry 4.0 initiative from medium-sized companies for medium-sized companies” are provided to visitors of the HANNOVER MESSE from April 13 to 17 in hall 7 at booth A04.
