For imat-uve the International Suppliers Fair in Wolfsburg (IZB) is all about material and surfaces

(PresseBox) (Mönchengladbach, )
From 14 to 16 October, the international Suppliers Fair in Wolfsburg (IZB) takes place for the eighth time. More than 800 exhibitors from 29 countries are expected. imat-uve participates for the third time at this important event of the automotive supply industry and focuses this year entirely on its expertise in materials and surfaces.

Material is not only the substance from which the products and components for automotive interiors are made. Material evokes emotions and values, triggers memories and experiences. The interplay of design, materials and surfaces influences the sensory perception of interiors. Look, feel, sound, smell - all the senses consciously or unconsciously take on and produce aversion or well-being.

Individualization and emotional appeal of the vehicle interior as well as resource-saving improvement of ergonomics and comfort - these topics move the material experts of imat-uve. Therefore, the company supports its customers at the interfaces between design, engineering and production. Along the entire value chain from the first idea to the finished product, imat-uve supports its customers, locally and globally. An extensive library of innovative materials and surfaces as well as the many years of experience in the testing and development of materials and components, enable the company to submit evaluation of materials not only from a design point of view but also to technical feasibility.

The need for cost optimization and sustainability results in the automotive industry into specific issues with regard to materials and surfaces. How to make a balance between cost and quality of the material? How can you substitute materials, without changing the required properties? How does the end user perceive quality? On individual solutions for all of these questions, imat-uve focuses with its services. "The connection between the library and technical performance of the materials is one of our unique selling points," explains Dr. Hans Peter Schlegelmilch, CEO of imat-uve group gmbh. "We further develop, for example, existing materials so that they replace others without losing the certain appearance of the original. This is especially of interest in the volume market. In the premium range, our designers and developers can then bring in more innovative, high-quality materials that characterize the individual brand."

Experiencing material and surfaces

At IZB exceptional, innovative and classic materials, embedded in a sculptural experience, provide an eye-catcher at the booth. The designers and engineers of imat-uve have created a reference object that contains a basic structure of the company's 3D printer and an exciting mix of materials with characteristic colors and finishes - some of them not yet known in the automotive industry. The idea is to explain visitor the innovative efforts of the company by giving practical examples.

Sustainability in development

Another highlight is an innovative seating concept, which is based entirely on sustainable material. The idea of developing a vehicle seat from almost 100 percent sustainable materials, should be a stimulus for the automotive industry. The basic idea is to use materials that are sustainable only in the sense of biodegradable, renewable resource and recyclable. The main components of the prototype are made of wood, African tree bark, wool, PLA and cellulose. These raw materials give the concept a very natural character. A proper development of the materials could soon emerge production-ready components.
