Am letzen Freitag hat sich der Bundesrat im Rahmen des Wertstoffgesetzes für die Abschaffung dieses Erfolgsmodells ausgesprochen und eine Verstaatlichung der Entsorgungssysteme gefordert. Die Mehrheit der Bundesländer hat sich damit den wirtschaftlichen Interessen einzelner Kommunen gebeugt, auf Kosten einer sinnvollen Weiterentwicklung des jetzigen privatwirtschaftlichen Systems. Eine Verstaatlichung wird aus Sicht von Experten die Gebühren verdoppeln und das Recycling vielfach durch Müllverbrennung in den Anlagen der Kommunen ersetzen.
„Mit diesem Votum des Bundesrates wird nicht nur der Bürger erheblich mehr zahlen, auch die positiven Beiträge des jetzigen Systems zum Klimaschutz werden sich negativ entwickeln“, so IK-Hauptgeschäftsführer Dr. Jürgen Bruder. „Die Bundesregierung muss deshalb an ihrem Vorhaben festhalten, die privatwirtschaftlichen Entsorgungssysteme in das geplante Wertstoffgesetz zu integrieren, im Sinne der Verbraucher und der Umwelt. “
