Trotz vieler geschäftlicher und technologischer Neuerungen existieren noch immer Reibungsverluste in den täglichen Arbeitsabläufen. Information, Interaktion und Innovation sind heute die drei Spannungspunkte, die über Blockchain-Technologie effizienter gestaltet werden können.
 
Das neue Dokument des IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) beschreibt, wie Blockchains solche Reibungsverluste durch ihren dezentralisierten, sicheren, transparenten, konsens-basierten und flexiblen Charakter vermindern können.

Außerdem werden drei Wege aufgezeigt, wie der Einsatz von Blockchain-Technologie die bisherigen Geschäftsprozesse radikal verändern kann:

- Es entsteht eine neue Wahrnehmung von traditionellem Unternehmensmanagement
- Sie legt die Definition von Vertrauen bei Transaktionen neu fest
- Die Geschwindigkeit von Werteaustausch und Vermögensfluss wird so erhöht
