- "3D-Touch-Slider" won the OE-A's "best prototype and new product" award at the LOPEC Munich
- The Slider is based on Heraeus' Clevios™ PEDOT:PSS conductive polymer
The 3D Touch Slider won the Organic Electronics Association's "best prototype and new product" award at the LOPEC Munich printed electronics show. The Touch Slider is based on Heraeus' Clevios™ PEDOT:PSS conductive polymer while application and design technology stems from Elmeric and FM Siebdruck.
The unique properties of Clevios™ include transparency - allowing light to pass through the electrode, and flexibility - screen printed on a flat substrate then formed into 3D shape. This results in an economical process that can be applied to both a small and large scale production. The flexibility allows various shapes matching diverse design requirements.
The Touch Slider comprises of two key elements. The first is a capacitive switch for on /off function. The second is a 3D capacitive touch slider made of numerous switches in a row which turn on/off the cool blue design lighting and drives the control signal.
Dr. Detlef Gaiser, Technical Applications Manager of Heraeus' Business Line Display and Semiconductor said "the combination of flexibility and transparency of Clevios™ along with the applications technology of Elmeric and FM Siebdruck provides an elegant 3D product design that is both practical and attractive."
Michael Wendler, Head of Research and Development at ELMERIC added "We love to work with Clevios™ PEDOT:PSS as it allows us to realize our design ideas while keeping all the functionality that we need to drive the slider. "
About Elmeric
The Elmeric GmbH is an innovative company based in Rangendingen, Germany. Core expertise of ELMERIC GmbH is the interconnection of electronic and printing know-how. Elmeric GmbH is professional partner for R&D, production control and manufacturing in the field of functionalized surfaces and systems integration. Further activities beside the development of customized smart, deformed control panels are printed batteries, antennae and sensors.
About FM Siebdruck
The emphasis of FM Siebdruck GmbH, Waldenbuch, Germany - is the decoration of plastic films and sheets via screen printing. The self-developed ScreenX! hybrid screening technology has redefined screen printing quality in terms of detail reproduction, tonal value range and moiré elimination. Decors like brushed aluminium, wood, carbon, concrete and many more designs, as well as special solutions are part of the portfolio. After decoration the material may be further processed by methods like thermoforming, milling, bonding, insert molding and bending.
