Faced with the integration of additional services and an increasing number of end-devices, Ethernet networks on rolling stock must be designed for higher bandwidth. HARTING's unmanaged and managed Ha-VIS 4100 Ethernet switches feature 2-Gigabit ports and have been optimized and designed for use in harsh train environments, enabling the set-up of Gigabit backbone structures. A total of 10 Ethernet ports (2GbE + 8FE) are implemented as vibration-proof M12 ports. Both the managed and unmanaged switches feature by-pass functionality, while the managed switch also supports external configuration memory.
The new Ha-VIS Ethernet switches are also designed to work in tandem with the innovative new M12 PushPull connector technology, but are also backward compatible with the well-known M12 connectors with screw locking. The M12 PushPull solution simplifies and speeds up the handling of Ethernet switches during installation. M12 PushPull results in a reliable and vibration-resistant connection to the switch, which locks with an audible click.
The Ha-VIS eCon 4100 and Ha-VIS mCon 4100 will be available as of Q1 2015.
