Eyevis exhibits on Infocomm show in Las Vegas
Eyevis will also show a totally new concept of image processing at this event.
The main focus this year is to introduce their visual solutions for training, simulation, virtual and augmented reality, which consist of the openWARP2, the PixelProcessor, the ESP series projectors and some small but very useful tools At certain professional applications, projectors made mainly for the consumer market are likely to meet their limits with regards to their reliability, robustness and image quality. This is where the eyevis projectors ESP-XT, ESP-SXT+, ESP-HD, and ESP-WUXT come to use. This outstanding projection device combines robustness with reliability and best image quality. The projectors were especially developed for sophisticated use in simulation systems for the defence industry for example.
Further possible fields of applications can be wherever stable projection in perfect quality is required. The projectors are available in four resolution standards: XGA (1024x768), SXGA+ (1400x1050), full-HD (1920x1080), and WUXGA (1920x1200).
The optical system is derived from the eyevis rearprojection cubes, which are wellknown for their excellent image quality and best reliability. All components of the projectors were chosen for their readiness to be used in professional longterm operation and have proven their reliability in thousands of applications worldwide. The rugged design of the projectors with its metal housing allows their usage in highvibration environments and in motionbased simulations.
With several optional expansions, the projectors can be upgraded for applications in stereoprojections, nightvision simulations, and optimised use in multichannel applications. The comfortable software tools allow simple and accurate calibration of systems using more than one projector.
Now the projector series got expanded by projectors using LED technology for illumination instead of highwattage lamps. Thus stability and reliability of the projectors could be once more improved.
Compared with traditional UHP lamp system, the eyevis LED system provides optimal spectral distribution of light. Thanks to the clear notoverlapping representation of the primary colours red, green and blue, allows brilliant colour representation of the complete colour range. This allows a realistic colour representation, which could not yet be reached with lampbased systems.
A newly developed control of the LEDs enables independent adjustment of the individual primary colours. Hence illuminant and colour temperature can be accurately adjusted to match any conditions. This process does not affect the signal data, the colour depth remains unaltered.
In addition to the ESP series, eyevis offers for simulators and virtual reality environments also the openWARP² , which is a customdesigned and costeffective Payper-Channel Solution for highend Image Combining and warping. With the new openWARP2 device, eyevis provides a costeffective singlechannel solution. The customer only pays for the number of channels he really needs, and this at a competitive price. Any number of devices can be cascaded to realise customised multichannel installations.
The new openWARP2 device is a much more flexible solution compared with solutions embedded in projectors or image generators, openWARP2 can be combined with any projection device on the market. Of course eyevis provides appropriate highend projectors for best compatibility. The field of application for VR systems has been widened, from the mere representation of threedimensional images up to the creation of multifunctional interactive workstations. The multimedia presentation of research results or prototype models is becoming increasingly important. These new tasks which combine virtual reality and the presentation of multimedia content constitute a new challenge to the technology of VR systems. eyevis provides the ideal technological platform for the upgrade of existing installations, as well as for the planning and realisation of new stateoftheart systems.
With openWARP², the second generation of eyevis' warping, edgeblending and colour correction technology, you can display virtually any image on any surface with any projector.
With openWARP it is possible to build highly flexible and cost effective multimedia presentations, video installations and virtual reality systems.
openWARP is the only device on the market which allows uploading and performing geometry corrections within one frame. Therefore it is possible to build high performance interactive simulations with tracked observer systems.
The extremely fast image processing (delay < 1/4 of a frame) allows the usage in high end and time critical simulator environments.
Comfortable Image Warping
The completely new designed system architecture and the new powerful warpcore technology enable highquality image corrections. Thanks to the innovative "Resolution passthrough Technology", the device can be easily integrated into any system environment without the necessity to configure the desired resolution.
Comprehensive possibilities for colour and brightness corrections allow for a perfect alignment of multichannel installations. Additional functionalities, such as colourshading, alphamasks and pixelaccurate blending make the system a first choice solution for professional multichannel projections.
Geometry Correction for any Screen
The openWARP alignment tools feature a toolset for calibration of single- or multichannel display systems, whose projection channels need geometry correction due to screen shape or projector placement. Calibration can be done for Geometry, Blending and Colour.
The toolset uses a camerabased approach to achieve calibration of geometry. Colour calibration can be done with an industry standard colorimeter, which can be integrated into the toolset. For the first time it is now possible to introduce measurable standards for the geometry correction.
Costeffective Payper-Channel Solution
With the new openWARP2 device, eyevis provides a costeffective singlechannel solution. The customer only pays for the number of channels he really needs, and this at a competitive price. The openWARP² designer software provides an easytouse GUI which enables comfortable configuration of warping, blending and color correction for one or multiple channels. The designer can run on an external PC or on the additional openWARP communication board. Once the calibration is done, the settings can either be stored on the external PC or on the communication Board.
The new openWARP2 device is a much more flexible solution compared with solutions embedded in projectors or image generators. openWARP2can be combined with any projection device on the market.
Of course eyevis provides appropriate highend projectors for best compatibility.
Whether you wish to improve single projectors, stereo projections or combined multichannel projections, openWARP is a first choice for all of these applications. With openWARP you can realise any image distortion and in addition to that it is also possible to perform colour and brightness corrections to achieve optimal colour and brightness uniformity.
The application possibilities for the openWARP are very wide, it cannot only be used for training, simulation, virtual and augmented reality, but also for the entertainment sector as well as for rental and staging.
Another product eyevis will introduce in Las Vegas is the EYE-PXP or PixelProcessor.
The EYE-PXP alignment tool features a comprehensive toolset for calibration of single- or multi channel display systems, also LCD monitors, which require colour and brightness correction of the projection channels due to the deviations of the projection devices. Additional functionalities, such as colour shading, alpha masks and pixelaccurate blending make the system a first choice solution for professional multichannel projections to achieve optimal colour and brightness uniformity. The EYE-PxP provides an easytouse GUI which enables comfortable configuration for one or multiple channels. Of course, the EYE-PxP provides best compatibility with all visual display solutions from eyevis, but it can also be used with products from other manufacturers.
It comes with a comfortable gamma correction through a 24 bit LookUpTable (LUT) for gamma correction. Freely uploadable curves. For each colour (red, green and blue) an individual LUT can be uploaded.
for alpha shading, pixelwise transparency correction for hot spot correction, blending and masking. A shading map with transparency information for each pixel can be uploaded. the colour correction works by 3x3 colour transformation matrix for colour space transformations. Independent offsets for red, green and blue for brightness correction (black level increase). It has also pixel wise colour correction for shading correction. A shading map with independent transparency information for red, green and blue for each pixel can be uploaded. This can be used for blending, masking and colour correction if some parts of the image show colour shading effects. Thanks to the innovative "resolutionpassthrough technology", the device can be easily integrated into any system environment without the necessity to configure the desired resolution. Embedded resolution analysis. The resolution of the connected DVI-D source is detected and can be read out to ensure a correct resolution setting of the connected Image generators. There is also a DDC-EDID emulation to ensure easy integration with any Image generator. The EDID information can be programmed on the device so that the image generator will always detect the device and will not notice any changes of the connected display. Any setting and parameter can be permanently stored on the device. After a power cycle, no connection to a PC is needed to activate the setting stored last. Without saving the changed parameter, the device will come up with the last stored setting after power cycle. This ensure a safe, easy and user friendly interaction. A preset button can be used to load a standard configuration instead of the saved user configuration. Based on internal processing, the latency is reduced to a minimum of a couple of pixel. This ensures a lipsync fully genlocked processing of live video streams. The input and output is a singlelink DVI-D for resolutions up to WUXGA (1920x1200@60Hz) or 2k (2048x1080@60Hz).
For eyevis the Infocomm show is very important to meet existing customers but also potential new clients from North and South America mainly but also from other continents.
