For the eight year running EuPD Research is compiling the annually published study „European PV InstallerMonitor“. The study offers comprehensive insights into important photovoltaic markets. For this purpose, installers of PV systems are surveyed about several relevant topics.
The "European PV InstallerMonitor 2015/2016" shows that a majority of PV installers in Germany purchased their PV components indirectly via wholesalers. To be more precise, direct procurement dropped from 44% to 37% in Germany. Possible conclusions for these results are the declining market and subsequent market exits from various manufacturers. This refers especially to Asian manufacturers. The increase of indirect procurement is a positive sign for wholesalers, who had been struggling over the last few years.
In regard to installers' choice, Heckert Solar jumped from third place and is now the most used module brand in Germany. It is significant to remark, that the three following brands are also German (SolarWorld, Solarwatt and IBC Solar). As German end-customers rarely or never request specific brands, this study shows how important the opinion and the attitude of PV installers are, especially in regard to brand choice.
Apart from topics such as procurement and market penetration, the study features issues such as brand management, satisfaction and recommendation and energy storage solutions. The study does not focus on Germany solely, but is also available for the PV markets in the United Kingdom, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Overall, a total of 650 European PV installers were surveyed for the 8th edition of the “European PV InstallerMonitor”. In addition, for the first time ever EuPD Research surveyed 100 Australian PV installers.
