Gov. Schwarzenegger to Promote California at World's Largest Technology Trade Fair

First State Partnership with CeBIT Provides Opportunity for California Businesses

(PresseBox) (Hannover, )
Providing an incredible opportunity for California companies to promote their products in the global marketplace, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will highlight our state's global leadership in information communications technology at CeBIT 2009 in Hannover, Germany. As the first official state partner with CeBIT, California businesses will be spotlighted above all others at the world's largest technology trade fair for digital business solutions and information and communications technology (ICT).

"California is not just the world's eighth largest economy; we are the high-tech capital of the world, the innovation capital of the world and the biotechnology capital of the world. We strive to be the best in everything we do, to invent, to innovate and to create. We are always pushing the envelope and searching for that next great discovery - which, like biotechnology, is usually found right here in the Golden State," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "This is why California was chosen to be the first state to be the official partner of CeBIT, a role previously only reserved for nations. And, I am going to seize this tremendous opportunity for our state at CeBIT 2009 to promote California companies and our global leadership in information communications technology."

Many California companies including a delegation of 51 small and medium sized businesses will showcase the state's innovative ICT technologies in several key industries including green technology, entertainment, Internet-based services, TeleHealth, security, consumer electronics, digital content generation and distribution, aerospace, and research and technology at CeBIT 2009. The Germany-California ICT Summit will be the star attraction of the Partner State program, giving the two entities an opportunity to step-up collaboration and stimulate more bilateral business.

"CeBIT is all about pumping up businesses and finding new customers all around the world. At last year's conference $13 billion in sales were made, so this is a fantastic opportunity for our economy and for these California businesses," said Governor Schwarzenegger.

In 2008, CeBIT attracted 495,000 attendees from 96 countries, 5,900 exhibitors from 77 countries and more than 7,000 press and media representatives from over 72 countries. CeBIT 2008 featured 67 exhibiting companies from California as well as other California companies that registered through their international subsidiaries.
