New benefits: superior troughability at normal and low temperatures

improved resistance to low temperatures - ContiTech is the only manufacturer worldwide for this type of belt

(PresseBox) (Hannover, )
ContiClean® A-H, the antistick conveyor belt stands to become even more versatile in future thanks to a new production method. The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group developed a more troughable version of the conveyor belt, the surface of which is specially designed to handle ultrasticky material like desulfurized gypsum, unfired clay, titanium dioxide or wet ash.

The new belt can be troughed to a greater extent, particularly at cold temperatures, thus increasing its conveying capacity. Even the narrower belt widths feature better troughing and running performance. These new benefits are attributable to an optimized rubber compound used in the production of the belt. The compound means that it is now possible to operate the belt conveyor at temperatures as low as -25 °C. All the familiar features of ContiClean® A-H, like greater durability and lower maintenance cost, have been retained in the new version.

"With our patent we are the only producers worldwide who are allowed to make the new coldresistant and troughable ContiClean® A-H belt", explains Hans-Jürgen Duensing, head of the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group. The new ContiClean® A-H provides ContiTech with additional sales opportunities. Thanks to its improved characteristics, the conveyor belt can also be placed in markets untapped so far.

ContiTech developed this new belt type in collaboration with Olberts Gummi- und Fördertechnik GmbH, Krefeld, Germany, the company marketing the product in Germany. The development engineers have definitely come up with a solution that hits home with customers. "Together, we've succeeded in getting an East European customer interested in our product", reports ContiTech applications engineer Wolfgang Kerwel. Meanwhile, the belt has been in service for some months and has fulfilled all expectations.

ContiClean® A-H is initially available in the standard EP 400 / 3 version. Distribution of a belt with greater belt stiffness is also planned. The oilresistant version Oil GM EP 400 / 3 can also be produced on request.

Thanks to its special surface properties, ContiClean® A-H does not become soiled even when handling ultrasticky materials like clay and gypsum. Any cakedon material is gently removed beyond the materials discharge point by a scraper tailored exactly to the product. This means that conventional hardmetal scrapers are no longer an absolute necessity. The conveyor belt suffers less wear and tear, and its service life is increased enormously. The belt surface is resistant to ageing and weathering, it is antistatic as well as oil and grease resistant, as required.
